So I have now been working on One Young World for almost a year and a half. It has been a pretty life changing time. I have learnt loads and had so much opportunity.
Today sees the start of One Young World and I am brimming with excitement… I will be live blogging from the Summit.

One Young World Summit Unites Young Leaders by the Power of Social Media
LONDON, UK: 4th February 2010 – Delegates attending One Young World, the world’s first global youth leadership summit in London (8-10 February), were recruited through the power of social media. Many of the final delegates, representing over 100 countries, were elected after 100,000 votes were cast online, and will use the event to address major global challenges with counsellors including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bob Geldof and Muhammad Yunus.
One Young World, founded by David Jones and Kate Robertson of Euro RSCG Worldwide to find new solutions to global issues, needed to engage support and bring together potential delegates. BraveNewTalent.com, a social recruiting platform and the initiative’s social media partner, devised a campaign requiring no advertising spend.
Lucian Tarnowski, Founder & CEO, BraveNewTalent, and One Young World delegate said: ‘This generation is different; for the first time young people are an authority on something that really matters – the internet. One Young World’s social media outreach perfectly demonstrates how a generation of young people can use this powerful tool to improve the world they will inherit.’
To support the One Young World website, BraveNewTalent built a Facebook application so all communications, discussions and voting could be conducted within social media, vastly decreasing administration time and budget. Complementary groups, pages and profiles were developed and managed on BraveNewTalent, Facebook, YouTube,Twitter and WAYN. Companies and organisations including TakingITGlobal, AIESEC and Youth Asia, were also called upon to support the initiative.
Kate Robertson, UK Chairman of Euro RSCG Worldwide and One Young World Founder said: “Lucian has been one of the most outstanding advocates One Young World could ever have had. He was our very first delegate and ever since then has been tireless in his efforts to try and get the Inaugural Summit underway. His efforts in the Social Media space at BraveNewTalent have uncovered amazing talent all over the world for One Young World.”
The campaign resulted in over 15 million people receiving information about One Young World and 100,000 voting for potential delegates from over 100 different countries.
This case study is being presented today, Thursday 4 February, during ‘A Conversation on Social Recruitment’, a Social Media Week London event hosted by BraveNewTalent.
